This double CD is the direct musical continuation of the Israeli Andalusian Orchestra's earlier disc, "Maghreb I". On this set, the first CD is a selction of Andalusian Arab classical music while the second CD focuses on the more popular aspects of the Maghrebi repertoire. Selections show the influences of various cultures--Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Spanish--on the music and lyrics. The selection "Ana Mani Fiash", consists of Muslim religious text which describes God's power and his control over Man's fate. In this version, theMuslim text has been replaced by a Jewish liturgical text. The religious poem, which is of the type known as rashuyot, was composed by Rabbi Solomon Ibn Gabirol (ca.1022-1057)
